Unmissable! This was an incredible experience undeniably worth every penny and more.
I booked the sunset mosaic workshop on short notice and it was the highlight of my trip. The workshop takes place on a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean and begins with a fascinating tour of the family’s artistic creations which are true masterpieces. The workshop was amazing. We were given full creative freedom while also being so closely supported and advised to help our individual visions and mosaics come to life. I wouldn’t call myself a very artistic person but Irini is a wonderful teacher and helped my ideas flourish into an actual mosaic that I made and love and took home! Watching the sunset over the ocean while crafting a mosaic with my own hands is a truly lovely memory. Irini went above and beyond as our teacher and is so passionate and knowledgable in her arts - I cannot praise her or workshop enough from the bottom of my heart. I learned not only about mosaics but also about the beautiful natural life and history of Crete and Chania! This is truly a must-do experience when in Crete!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at this mosaic tile workshop! Irini is such a warm and kind host, she started by showing us her mother's mosaic in the garden, and you can truly see how much time and love went into it. The balcony is stunning as well, and the whole house reflects their vision and passion for the craft.
The workshop itself was relaxing, fun, and really well-guided. Irini was there for us every step of the way, helping us think through any challenges we ran into. We each made our own tile and left very happy with the results.
I would recommend this workshop to everyone, whether you're a complete beginner or just looking for a creative and peaceful experience.

We had such a wonderful time this morning being creative at the Marinella Mosaic Workshop. Irini and her mother were so welcoming and accommodating. Irini gave us a tour of all the wonderful mosaic art around their home and studio and now my head is full of ideas 🐢🌊 the view was stunning and we were able to take home a little reminder of our magical experience

Irini and her mother are the kindest and pleasant people, and they happily show their work. Their studio is absolutely fantastic. They welcomed my 13-year-old son with great care, and Irini showed us all the beginner tricks of making mosaics. Throughout the workshop she guided us and gave us advice. I recommend visiting this workshop to everyone, regardless of their level of mosaic-making experience.

I bought this experience as a birthday present for my partner, but I ended up really enjoying it myself! Everything about the experience was special. First, the views!!! The views are BREATHTAKING! And we felt more able to tap into our respective creativities because felt that we had the breathing space and time to think more clearly. The hosts are truly very knowledgeable and are masters of this art. Their generousity and patience enabled us to just ‘have a go’…..in the end, personally, I not only created a mosaic that i’m happy with….I’m also keen to learn about mosaic art!! Thank you very much Irini and Marinella.

Lovely activity to do when you’re in Chania. You’ll be making your own souvenir and have plenty of materials and colours to use. Irini is a wonderful host, explains all the steps, lets you get on with it but helps where needed. I really enjoyed doing this workshop which is suitable for solo travellers, couples, groups of friends and families alike. Irini also gave me recommendations for food afterwards and sorted my bus ticket on the way back which I really appreciated. You’ll be crafting outdoors with a nice view which is a bonus. If you’re looking for a unique experience and like being creative, you shouldn’t miss this.

We joined Irini and her team for a mosaic workshop during our retreat, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our group absolutely loved it and many said it was probably the best team activity they’ve had out of all their retreats so far. The instructors were patient, fun, and incredibly supportive - they expanded our slot for an extra hour beyond the scheduled time to make sure each of us could finish our mosaics. A truly memorable activity we would recommend to any group!

A truly inspirational and incredible family.
We were warmly welcomed into their home and studio for an afternoon crafting and making a mosaic tile. This delightful lady showed and taught us her craft of mosaic design.
We each had a tile to do a pattern of our choice. Then were guided, helped and given great suggestions to improve our design.
We had the honour of meeting her mum who had been the inspiration behind this craft and Irini has taken on the teaching and classes. Her patience and craft started by welcoming us with a tour of Irini’s mother’s art work and mosaic wall which took 3 years to complete. It is absolutely beautiful. We were given a bottle of water which was extremely kind and sat to start our lesson with the most spectacular view of Chania bay. The afternoon flew by with crafting and chatting with ease. Even at the end of the allotted time neither of us felt rushed. Infact quite the opposite my daughter hadn’t quite finished her design so Irini helped finished the side of the tile.
I would truly recommend this wonderful afternoon. Thank you once again and would love to return in the future.

Ps: please note that the workshops take place at their incredible family home up in the hills of the outskirts of Chania. Disregard any downtown address provided by Airbnb or Apple maps, and follow Google Maps instead.
You can easily get their using the number 11 bus (less often but gets you v close) or the number 18 bus (runs more frequently but requires a titchy bit more walking)
The views, artistry and workshop itself make the trip worth every moment spent getting there.

We had a lovely time creating mosaics and learning techniques. The location has a beautiful view which helps inspire as well as a lot of beautiful mosaics created around the workshop.
It was a really lovely experience that everyone should try

Incredible tile mosaic experience! We came as a group of 7, ages 15-78 and everyone had a fun and memorable time. The workshop overlooks the most stunning view of Chania that makes this experience the best place for pictures. Marinella and her daughter, Irini, were so great in explaining and assisting everyone. My grandparents, who do not speak English, had such a fun time and were so well taken care of. The 16x16cm tiles can be done in just over an hour and you get to leave with a beautiful souvenir from Crete. This is workshop for everyone of all artistic skill level. It is a must if you are in Chania.
